Description

A couple of years ago when I was knitting a lot of color-work garments, I wanted to play around with my own color-work ideas. I designed a cowl that included several color-work charts that I dreamed up. This Mabrey color-work chart is one of those original charts. I love its simplicity. Mabrey is my first stranded color-work sweater design. I wanted this entry into the color-work world to be simple and enjoyable. This design would be a great first color-work sweater for a knitter that would like to try out stranded color-work.

Mabrey is worked from the top down with basic yoke construction. First, you cast on for the neck. After the collar ribbing, you begin to work short rows to shape the back of the neck. The yoke is created with standard increases. After short rows, the simple color-work charts begin. Maybrey is worked in an all-over stockinette stitch. Once yoke depth and bust width is created you will split for the sleeves and continue to work in the round for the body. The sleeves are picked up after the body is completed. Simple color-work is also added prior to working the sleeve cuffs. An extra detail throughout this sweater is a simple purl ridge before or after all ribbing. The underarm gap is sewn together at the end.
