Birch Creek Shawl

This piece is very easy to make and wear; a goal of all September Knits patterns. The stitch pattern gives enough interest to keep going, but also repetitive enough to do while watching a show or listening to an audiobook. This larger shawl version of the Birch Creek Bandana is worn folded in half (as a triangle) and easily wrapped around the shoulders. The two-color brioche and garter stitch makes for a squishy reversible fabric.

Birch Creek Shawl is knit from the bottom up beginning with an I-Cord Cast-On. There are two options given for this I-Cord Cast-On. The sample used the ‘Provisional Cast-On Using a Crochet Hook Method Set-up Option’. This shawl is worked back and forth utilizing soothing garter stitch and fun two-color brioche. Slip all slipped stitches purl wise in this shawl. The shape of this shawl is a square. To wear this shawl, you will fold it in half on the diagonal to then wrap around your neck or shoulders. An I-Cord edging is worked throughout so all sides of this shawl have a neat I-Cord finish.
