About September Knits

Timeless pieces that are both creative and simple.

Craft has always been an important part of Rachael’s life. There are pictures of Rachael as a child knitting, but she will tell you she didn’t really start until her late teens. Her maternal grandmother taught her to knit, crochet, and sew. With this background of crafting, she left her career as a Grief Counselor so she could  homeschool her youngest son. In order to help her stay sane and creative, she founded September Knits in December 2018. Eager to begin publishing patterns, she ambitiously designed and wrote her first pattern, a sweater known as Hyla. Since this beginning, Rachael has been featured in several publications such as PomPom Quarterly (the Gowen Shawl) and  The Farmers Daughter Collections (Plume Hat DK and Light, and Birch Creek Bandana).

September Knits design esthetic constitutes of garments and accessories with simple construction with the goal for each piece to be enjoyable to make and wear. Ideal September Knit pattern would produce a piece that is simple to throw on and move about your busy day. September Knits patterns are for busy people that enjoy making. Each pattern is laid out in a way that is easy to pick up and put down.

Rachael and her family currently reside on a beautiful island in the Puget Sound area of Washington State. You can find her on Ravelry and on Instagram.
